Zmarł Dr Colin Reynolds

We have to pass on the sad news that Dr Colin Reynolds died peacefully on Monday December 3rd after a short illness. Colin worked for many years at the Freshwater Biological Association at Windermere (and subsequently at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology at Lancaster) with many memorable publications to his credit.  He was one-time acting Director of FBA and later sat on the FBA Board.  He was editor of FBA Reviews which produced some excellent review articles. He was always a very caring and thoughtful and a world leader in phytoplankton ecology, and willingly gave time to encourage young researchers.

He worked together with Alan Hildrew towards the foundation of a biannual Symposium for European Sciences (SEFS), beginning with the first meeting in Antwerp in 1999 and he acted as the first 'secretary/convener’ of the European Federation of Freshwater Sciences.

He leaves a wife Jean and family.
